The forest fire in the Serra de Monchique under control

Local media report that in the early morning hours of today the joint forces of the fire brigades from all over the Algarve managed to control the heavy forest fire. The fire started the day before around noon in the area of Tojeiro near Marmelete, a few miles north of the Motodromo do Algarve. Four firefighting planes and a helicopter supported the 250 firemen for several hours.
