Faro: Cathedral
The Sé Cathedral, located in the Largo da Sé, was originally built in the 13th/14th century after the Moorish period where a former mosque was placed. The main portal and square tower are witnesses of that time, the rest was constructed between the 15th and 18th centuries.

Faro: Marina
The marina is located on the border of the old part of Faro. The Jardim Manuel Bivar is a popular meeting point for the young as well as the older generation. Nearby the pedestrian area is an invitation to do some shopping.
Faro: Bank of Portugal
The beautiful building of the Bank of Portugal is situated opposite the marina at the park "Jardim Manuel Bivar".
Faro: Art Nouveau
The old part of Faro still has many beautiful testimonies of the architecture of former times. The photo shows one of the prettiest Jugendstil town houses in the centre of Faro.
Faro: Historic Town Archway
During the 18th and 19th century a bishop seminary was built on the left side of the palace. Both buildings are connected by an archway, which provides pretty views onto the small, traditionally paved road.
Faro: Air corridor
The air corridor to the nearby Faro International Airport for planes arriving from eastern direction is crossing the the old town of Faro and the marina at low altitude.
Faro: Ria Formosa and Airport

Faro International Airport is less than three flight hours away from most European centres. Year after year several million passengers arrive to spend their holidays in the Algarve and during the high season the airport is quite busy.
Faro: Market hall
The municipal market hall is conveniently situated in the centre of the city, offering a large underground parking. In the first floor the citizen's office is located.
Faro: Public services
In the upper level of the market hall the counters for most public services are concentrated. The so called "Loja do Cidadao" is a well organized single point of contact for financial services, water and energy supply and many more.
Faro: Theatre
The modern theatre (Teatro das Figuras) is located opposite the shopping mall Forum Algarve at the entry to the city.

The quay at the promenade opposite the Arco da Porta Nova, one of the doorways to the historical old town, is the place to embark to the tours in the Ria Formosa.
