Ilha da Culatra

This is the most eastern settlement on the island and the first quay where the ferry boat from Olhão debarks. From here a boardwalk leads across the island to the beach on the other side.

On the left side you can see the small harbour and the landing stage of for the ferry boat. On the opposite side the small sandy stripe of the sea side beach Praia da Culatra-Mar comes into view.

The lagoon of the Ria Formosa forms a natural bay, used by locals to anchor their boats.

View along the sea side coast of the island, where you can see in the background the the lighthouse (farol), situated at the western corner. The beach Praia da Culatra-Mar is situated in the midde of the sandy stripe, stretching for several miles.

The infrastructure of the lonely beach on the sea side is simple. A boardwalk leads from the quay at the lagoon across the island.

Olhão: Ferry

From the quay, situated between the fishing port and the promenade, the ferry boats debark to the islands of the Ria Formosa, Ilha da Armona and Ilha da Culatra.
