The beach hosts excellent facilities, including a large fish and seafood restaurant. In the background you can see the huge quarries of Boliqueime, where the local sandstone is excavated.

The creek, fed by the creeks of Alte and Algibre in the Serra do Caldeirão, crosses the plain west of Vilamoura and flows into the Atlantic Ocean near the marina. The bridge in the background gives access to the beach of Rocha Baixinha from the car parking area.
