Its centre, is almost untouched by tourism, the houses are clustered around the parish church (Igreja Matriz). Every first Sunday of the month the large square at the western entrance to the village is host to a very popular market, and it also gets busy during the carnival celebrations.

The peaceful little square next to the parish church invites you to stop and rest for a while. Visitors should also see the the nearby chapel of Santo Cristo and the adjacent museum Museu Paroquial which has a display of archaeological artefacts, sacred objects and items that were in daily use, which have been found in the region.

In and around Moncarapacho several garden centres with a great selection of local and other plants can be found. The olive plantation and olive mill Lagar da Horta Félix is worth a visit. There you can see ancient olive trees that are more than a thousand years old and taste the excellent olive oil.

Vila Monte an exclusive holiday resort is to be found just a few miles north of the village. It was formerly the home of a German painter, who originally called it Adolfo da Quinta.
