From February 25 to 28, the annual carnival procession on the Av. José da Costa Mealha in the centre of Loulé, the oldest in Portugal, attracted thousands of visitors from far and near. 14 cars and more than 700 persons, among them Samba bands, Brazilian dancing groups and a variety of artfully costumed figures, entertained the crowd for two hours.
