The much-restored Nossa Senhora da Graça chapel dates back to 1579. It replaced the original church of Prince Henry of 1459. It was also damaged by the earthquake of 1755. In the background you can see the legendary Cabo de Sao Vicente.
Sagres Fortress: Compass Rose
After passing through the mighty tunnel entrance, one sees a giant pebble circle , detected only in 1921, of unknown age and purpose. The circle with a diameter of 43m is interpreted as a compass rose (Rosa dos Ventos).
