Cabo de São Vicente

Cabo de São Vicente

View from the Cabo de São Vicente to the west along the coast "Costa Vicentina". The cliffs of this part of the coast are much steeper, and the surf of the Atlantic Ocean is significantly rougher than on the Algarve's south coast.

On the surrounding cliffs, beaten by the strength of the vast Atlantic, local fishermen risk their lives wedged on dramatic perches with the thundering sea below. Year by year some of them, as well as some imprudent tourists, meet their death here.

View from the Torre de Aspa to northern direction towards the Costa Vicentina with the beaches Praia da Cordoama and Praia do Castelejo. The Torre de Aspa (156 m) west of Vila do Bispo is the highest elevation of the Costa Vicentina, the almost untouched western coast of the Algarve. The way from Vila do Bispo through the heath is not easy to find, but the great views will compensate you for your efforts.
