The long sandy beach located on the seaside of the Ilha de Faro is the main beach for the inhabitants of the city. It can be accessed from the mainland via a small bridge.

View from the walls of the old town to the promenade and the quay at the Ria Formosa. From here the ferry boats to the islands Ilha da Barreta, Ilha da Culatra (Ilha do Farol) and Ilha da Armona debark. In the background you can see the Faro International Airport and the silhouette of the Ilha de Faro.
Ilha da Barreta: Bordwalk
A bordwalk is leading from the landing stage for the ferry boats from Faro to the beach restaurant and the beach.
Ilha Deserta (Ilha da Barreta)
View to western direction along the beach of the Ilha da Barreta. The southernmost point of continental Portugal is only 1,5 km away. The sandy beach disposes of an excellent infrastructure and a huge area to experience unspoilt nature.
