Complete Monchique Challenge Programmes |

Starting at the top of Fóia, at a height of 902 m, the challenge begins with three rappelling events of progressive difficulty, followed by 5 Km downhill by MTB to the picnic location where the ripriding (cable sliding) equipment is set up and can be used as many times as desired. Crossing the Monchique Valley and heading up towards Picota hill to 700 m by mini-bus, the 22 Km descent to the Odelouca stream is by MTB. Here, bikes will be exchanged for kayaks to take us downstream to the Arade river and finally to the Sítio das Fontes de Lagoa, where we can bathe in a natural swimming pool.
It goes without saying that the scenery and animal life surrounding this challenge is breathtaking.

Equipment: Clothing and footwear are of the client’s responsibility, however, in order to practise the different activities comfortably and safely, we recommend the use of the appropriate equipment.
Mountain bikes with a 28” aluminium frame, 26” wheels, V-brakes, Shimano 21 speed gears and gel saddle. Helmet and gloves.
Dag Tribal Kayaks for 3 people, length 3,90 m, width 0,90 m, capacity 250 kg, life jackets.
For the ripriding (cable sliding) we have a tirfor with a capacity for 1600 kg, a steel cable with an 11,5 mm thick steel core, 200 m in length with a pulley tested to 1600 kg.
