Marisol's traditional seasalt results from natural evaporation of the sea water through sun and wind. Clean Atlantic water and careful harvesting allow to produce a white salt without washing: the »white gold« of the Algarve. Marisol's traditional seasalt is completely natural and free of additives. As it is not purified and not artificially dried, it is rich in minerals and essential elements of the sea water.

Marisol's flower of sea salt from the Eastern Algarve´s traditional salt works is what is called »Fleur de Sel« in France, in Portugal also known as the cream of the salt pan: lamellous, flaky crystals forming a thin and shiny layer that floats on the surface of the brine. Skimmed off by hand every day in good weather conditions and simply sun dried before packaging, this finest sea salt brings its delicate, slightly sweet flavour to carpaccios, salads and all prepared dishes.

This unprocessed seasalt comes from small traditional crystallizer ponds. Sun drying keeps the natural moisture and the sea water's minerals. Before packaging, Marisol Sal Tradicional is carefully ground coarse or fine according to the customer's needs. Its intact mineral composition, rich in Magnesium, Potassium, Iodine and Selene, makes this white natural seasalt both healthy and tasteful. Use it as a cooking salt for all culinary purposes.

The salt cristals are of a more solid structure. That's why the Sal do Mar is often sold grinded and is a little less soluble in water. Dried by the sun and free of additives Sal de Mar is recommended in the professional gastronomy for cooking pasta and potatoes, for salt crusts and to salt meat and ham.
