On the bay of Lagos near the harbour exit and the Ponta da Bandeira fortress.

The local beach of Lagos, Praia da Batata, and the neighbouring beach Praia dos Estudantes are situated below the Ponta da Bandeira fortress at the harbour exit. There are no support infrastructures and the water quality is questionable due to the proximity of the harbour. Nevertheless the beaches are very popular with the locals. Near the fortress there is a car park and sailing club.
