Vale do Lobo was founded 35 years ago as one of the first developments at the Algarve and since then evolved into one of the finest resorts in Portugal. Conveniently situated on the Algarve coast and only 20 km from Faro airport, Vale de Lobo is tucked away amongst the umbrella pines with spectacular views to the Atlantic Ocean.
The Royal Course combines the reconstructed Yellow Course and the new Blue Course set amongst lakes and lush vegetation. Based on the original drawings of Sir Henry Cotton, the course has been designed by the renowned American architect, Rock Roquemore. The 16th hole, a Par 3 crossing the cliffs (formerly the famous 7th) is one of the most photographed golf motifs in Europe.
Attention to detail and concern for the natural environment play a major part in the course design with wild flowers planted around the three man-made lakes and care given to preserve as much of the natural pine and eucalyptus forest as possible.
