The Pinhal Golf Course opened in 1976 and was originally designed by the English architect, Frank Pennink. In 1985, the famous American architect, Robert Trent Jones, introduced several modifications. As a result, different styles are apparent in the layout. The first nine holes wind through umbrella pinewoods while the back nine, returning gently uphill, move through terrain that opens up to magnificent sea views.
Since more than 30 years the resort of Vilamoura, located at the Atlantic coast between Vale do Lobo and Pine Cliffs, has contributed to establish the legendary image of the Algarve as one of Europes leading golf destinations with strong commitment to protect the natural environment. With the inauguration of the Victoria Course in 2005 Vilamoura offers five 18-holes courses of different character. |
