Discovering cork tour
Guided tour to discover the world of cork in the municipality of São Brás de Alportel, the centre of cork in the Algarve
The tour consists of four elemnts, that can be combined:
1 Algarve Costume Museum - Visit to the Cork Room, where you can see a film and learn about the skills of working with cork from the tree to the finished product
2 Visit to a traditional cork factory- Learn about the processes involved in preparing and packing the cork
3 Visit to a shop where one can see some of the latest uses of cork, as in clothing and fashion accessories made of cork fabric.
4 A Visit to a Cork Oak Plantation (cork yard) - A walk amongst the cork oak trees, with an explanation of their life-cycle (10 meters).
