Benamor Golf

Location and access

The Benamor golf course is situated in the eastern Algarve on the national road EN125 between Tavira and Vila Real de Santo António in  peaceful, rural countryside a few kilometers from the coast. On the opposite side of the road,  holiday resorts stretch from Conceição to Cabanas de Tavira on the Ria Formosa lagoon. It is almost a 13 km drive from the A22 motorway (exit 9)

Golf course

The rolling but not hilly terrain has been used intelligently by the designers to produce a wide variety of  holes. The start looks relatively easy, but accuracy is essential as the course has been designed to retain as many of the old trees as possible.  These natural obstacles coupled with strategically   placed bunkers and occasional water hazards make the course a worthwhile challenge.

This course was selected as the “Best Maintained Course”  for 2001 by the Portuguese Golf Federation.

Services & facilities

There is a large practice area with a driving range and a nine hole putting green. The nearby professional golf clinic is open all year round. The functional club house is down-to-earth like everything else here, offering golfers all they need both  before and after the game.

Noteworthy

Benamor, located near Tavira on the EN125, was the first golf course opened in the Eastern Algarve in spring 2000, based on a design by Sir Henry Cotton.  Players can enjoy some of the best mountain views - to the nearby hills of Barrocal- and also sea views down to the coast that the Algarve has to offer. But, perhaps, most enjoyable of all is a construction-free golf course within the peaceful surrounding of a former Quinta.
