Pinheiros Altos Golf
27 holes golf course of the Pinheiros Altos Golf, Spa & Hotels in Quinta do Lago
Location and access
Pinheiros Altos is situated on the eastern border of the world famous golf and holiday resort of Quinta do Lago between Almancil and Faro International Airport. It is partly located on the outskirts of the nature reserve Ria Formosa, a water rich wetland. From the EN125 in Almancil it is only a six km drive, and ten km from exit 13 of the A22 motorway.
The original 18 holes were designed by the American architect Ronald Fream and the additional 9 holes, created by the Portuguese architect George Santana da Silva, opened in 2007. The Championship course is presented in three contrasting nine hole formats, that have their starting and finishing points in close proximity to the elegant Pinheiros Altos Clubhouse.
Pinheiros (Pines): This course is named after the beautiful umbrella pine trees which abound throughout the undulating course.
Sobreiros (Cork): This is the longest of the three nine holes at Pinheiros Altos and regarded as the most demanding, particularly due to the difficulty of the eighth hole.
Oliveiras (Olives): This is the shortest course and runs around several lakes that form the main obstacles for the golfers on this course. It was the original back nine and has remained unchanged since 1995 when the signature island green eighth hole was constructed.
Services & facilities
The elegant club house with a restaurant and bar meets the high standards of this outstanding golf resort as well as the generous practice facilities including driving range balls.
Pinheiros Altos stands out for the contrasting character of its three courses, the short distances between the holes and the fantastic natural environment. Those who have heard the chattering young storks in their nests around the course whilst they wait for their food will never forget this special experience.
