Vale do Lobo Royal Course
18holes golf course in the Vale do Lobo Golf & Beach Resort near Almancil
Location and access
Vale do Lobo is situated on the Atlantic coast in the Golden Triangle of the Algarve between Quinta do Lago and Vilamoura. It is only a five km drive from the national road EN125 in Almancil and around eight km from exit 6 of the A22 motorway.
Golf course
Based on the original drawings of Sir Henry Cotton, the Royal Course was designed by the renowned American architect, Rocky Roquemore. He combined the reconstructed Yellow Course of the original 27 holes and the new Blue Course set amongst lakes and lush vegetation.
The Royal Golf Course has rolling fairways set amidst pine trees and beautiful lakes surrounded by wild flowers. Its features include the almost island green of the 9th and the famous 16th, playing over the cliff-top – one of the most celebrated golfing images in the world, which has become the emblem of golf in the Algarve.
Services & facilities
The great club house in the heart of the two courses, the Ocean and Royal is a social gathering place not just for golfers. Beside many other facilities it is home to the luxurious Royal Spa and a fitness centre. The nearby practice area is also used by the Golf Academy for their lessons.
Noteworthy
Vale do Lobo was founded in 1963 as one of the first developments in the Algarve and since then has evolved into one of the finest resorts in Portugal. Conveniently situated on the Algarve Coast and only 20 kms from Faro airport, Vale do Lobo is tucked away amongst the umbrella pines with spectacular views to the Atlantic Ocean.
The Royal Course winds through the entire development of this luxurious resort with long distances between several holes. We therefore recommend hiring a buggy.
