Dom Pedro Laguna Course
18 holes golf course in Vilamoura
Location and access
The golf courses Dom Pedro Laguna, Millennium and Victoria are situated in the lowlands of the Ribeira de Quarteira stream between Vilamoura and Albufeira. It is only a six kilometres drive from the entrance to the resort on the EN125 between Almancil and Boliqueime and less than 12 kms from the A22 motorway (exit 12).
Golf course
Many of the holes of the Laguna course, which are laid out over a low lying coastal terrain, with many water hazards and few trees, convey a links atmosphere. U.S. golf architect Joseph Lee designed this course which was opened in 1990 and many visitors before that date will recognise it as part of the former 27 hole Vilamoura III course.
The par 72 course includes several lakes which influence play on a total of 11 holes. In addition to acting as hazards and emergency water reservoirs, these lakes serve a useful purpose in attracting a variety of aquatic birds, as well as amphibians, otters, terrapins etc. Apart from the lakes and an impressive total of 79 bunkers, another hazard is the wind that frequently blows over this somewhat exposed location, all of which demand accuracy of play.
Services & facilities
The parking facilities, the appealing club house and the large driving range are shared by players of both Laguna and Millennium courses.
Noteworthy
Since the late 1960s, Vilamoura has contributed to establishing the legendary image of the Algarve as one of Europe’s leading golf destinations allied to a strong commitment to protect the natural environment. With the inauguration of the Victoria Course in 2004 Vilamoura offers five great 18-hole courses of different complexity.
