Odiaxere is a parish (freguesia) in the municipality (concelho) of Lagos in the western Algarve (Barlavento). It was raised to village status (vila) in 2003.
Odiaxere is built along both sides of the national road EN125 east of Lagos. Before the inauguration of the A22 motorway it was a bottleneck for through traffic. Unfortunately the situation has worsened again since the toll system was introduced on the A22 in 2011, as most locals avoid the motorway because of the costs.
Odiaxere is situated on the north-western bank of the bay of Alvor (Ria do Alvor), an area where mussels are cultivated. The nearest beach is Meia Praia, a long and flat sandy beach stretching for several kilometres from the Ria do Alvor to Lagos. The extensive golf course Palmares is situated on an elevated site between the beach and the village overlooking this scenic landscape.
Inland the reservoir Barragem de Odeceixe, also called Barragem de Bravura, supplies the region with water and electricity.
