The Marina of Albufeira is located at the western exit of the city in an artificial bay, built in 2003. It disposes of berths for 475 vessels with a size up to 32 m. The Yacht Harbour Assosiation awarded Albufeira Marina as the 2nd Best Internacional Marina 2015

The history of this historical city, considered the most beautiful in the western Algarve, is closely linked to the sea. The marina is located on the estuary of the Ribeira de Bensafrim, watering into the bay of Lagos. It disposes of a capacity for 462 boats with a lentgh up to 30 m.

With 620 moorings available for rental for short and long stays, the Marina de Portimão can receive boats up to 50m long, drawing a maximum of 5 meters. It is situated below the fortress of Santa Catarina on the western banks of the estuary mouth of the Rio Arade, erected in the 16th century together with the fortress of São João on the opposite site of the river to protect the harbor of Portimao against corsairs. The great beaches of Praia da Rocha, the popular promenade with its bars, shops, restaurants and hotels and the holiday apartments along the road to Alvor are only a stroll away.

The port of Faro, near the Jardim Manuel Bivar is only suitable for small boats as its proximity to the Algarve railway line limits the height for access to the berths. Access to Faro from the Atlantic Ocean is by an artifical shipping channel between the unhibited Ilha da Barreta and the Ilha da Culatra. The lighthouse (farol) on the western corner of the island. which guides shipping gives its name to the beach Praia do Farol.
