Access to the Ilha de Faro
The parking near the airport and the boardwalk are operational

We have been informed by the Câmara Municipal in Faro that the new parking and the boardwalk from there to the single lane bridge are operational since Wednesday, 27th July 2016.
According to the Divisão de Desenvolvimento Económico e Promoção Turística this is the last step of a major requalification of the area, including the road from the roundabout at the airport and some hydraulic installation to improve the circulation of the water in the Ria Formosa.
The parking with a capacity of around 1.000 slots for smaller and larger personal transportation shall significantly reduce the impact of traffic to the fragile eco system of the Ilha de Faro (Peninsula de Ançao), encouraging people to park their car outside and use the boardwalk.
